Common words looking unfamiliar for a short period of time

Has anyone ever had the experience where they are typing or reading something and all of a sudden, a word that you've always known and recognized suddenly looks like it's off? It has happened to me with words like "south" and "commercial" just now.

Hope it's not alzehimers or something...cause I'm relatively young.

This happened to me this past Thanksgiving with the word "turkey". It was really strange.

Happens to me often. I'll be writing a note and suddenly a very simple word will look misspelled to me, and I write and read a lot.

Yup, it happens to me from time to time. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to which words set it off, either.

All of the time. You're momentarily overcome with a sense of bewilderment and helplessness as you stare at the word, wondering what's wrong. I get sent to an alternate dimension when I read this: "Your going to the store" "He's going to loose the game" Even worse - "You're dog is in my yard"

If it's a nice dog, it's not so bad. You could play with it and laugh at it's antics.

It's called Jamais vu, the opposite of a Déjà vu experience. Shouldn't be anything to worry about. It's happened to me with words, objects, and places. The last and final time I used caffeine it triggered a Jamais vu and derealization experience. I was in the car in a place I've been hundreds of times and all of a sudden there was a sensation of unfamiliarity like it was my first time there. I was still able to navigate home somehow because the house was close.

Granted, although I then have dog crap to remove. Woah, just had Jamais Vu on the spelling of "crap".
