I am new to selvedge denim.

Can anyone recommend a good pair at a decent price? I see a lot of them going for $100-$200...any other options?

Also, anyone know any wholesale suppliers or manufacturers to order them direct? In China or Japan?

there are quite. you need to be WAY more specific at to what you want in terms of fit, cut, weight, etc. and are you really asking if you can buy these at wholesale?

See the jeans thread that is pinned at the top of the SWD page. It covers pretty much anything you want to know about jeans.

to answer your question (kind of...clearly you didn't give us lots of information):
Assuming you want raw,

Under $100 (not particularly good quality, selvedge is usually not worth it):
Gap
Uniqlo
Levis (Your best option for this price range is just to get raw non-selvedge levis in 501/514/511 fit)

$100-200 (Entry level good quality selvedge denim):
Lots of choices, the small inverstment is a good way to get into selvedge denim.
APC (this tends to be the concensus favorite for entry level selvedge, I love mine)
Nudie
Naked and Famous
RRL

200$ and up:
Some forum members promote the idea of buying really nice, if expensive, denim immediatly. Not bad advice, if you are willing to take the initial plunge.
Brands include: Tellason, Jean Shop, Samurai, PBJ, and a bunch of other high end brands that you can find all over SW&D.

Seriously though, just read some of the threads in here (ex. I have a jean thread, APC thread, ect)

If you want to jump into some more substantial stuff, you can look for 3sixteen/Left Field/BIG.

Considering the fact that APCs just jumped up to $175 (from $165, I believe), you should consider just paying a little bit more for better quality.

Well, I am totally new to selvedge.

Yes, I would like raw.

Honestly, what are the advantages?

As for weight, cut, fit,

What is a good weight? I dont think I would want 21. oz.

And the fit, well, lets just say I dont want to look like I am wearing "Skinny Jeans"

I have seen some people mention Gap, Uniqlo, or Unbranded....Thoughts on these?

weight - more reliable/durable/warmer on colder nights but a lot warmer during summer days

Cut/fit - basically what cut/fit makes you look good wearing jeans?

I dont think you can get anything higher than 15oz in the 100-200 department(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

like someone already stated under 100 your best bet is Levi's rigid line. 514s/511/501.

Under 200 you can't go wrong with APC, Nudies, RRL, Naked & Famous(although I find their fits weird(er)?.

Find a Barneys, Amarican Rag, Fred Segal, Bloomingdales(carry nudies) near by and go try them on.
