Envelope embossing and Wax sealing envelops??? - Page 2

I've always wanted to do this. Also wanted to dip an entire envelope in red wax and stamp in the postage and information, just to see the reaction on the USPS counter lady's face.

Envelopes? I only use wax seals for thank you scrolls I write to people.

Sounds very cool. I'd do it for special ocassions if I hand wrote letters.

I think its a nice touch. Personally I think hand written letters are great when done with good paper and a nice fountain pen. I love it. The wax is definintely a nice touch.

I wouldnt use it to seal the envelope of my cell phone bill or mortgage though.

My Dad has his wax kit and a monogram that he uses to emboss. I'm hoping he passes it on one of these days. He typically uses his for greeting cards and thank you notes. The kit was actually his grandfather's, who served in the Royal Navy. Sorta makes it cool, although I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable using it.

Can't really say, but I'm afraid of coming across as too pretentious without the... charm and elegance to back it up with. When I think of my father or my grandfather, they belonged to a different class of men -- meticulous and yet possessed of a certain panache. The shoes, they feel too big.

My grandmother would do the same - for christmas cards or any other non-professional correspondence she would seal the envelope using wax and embossing it with her signet ring.

I doubt I could pull it off before I become an old man though.
