Yes, our main living room has the large tree (12'), our front living/sitting room has a small tree (4'), our dining room has a medium tree (6'). I didn't count the TV room where we have a small, artifical fiber-optic lit tree (about 3'), or the small tree at the the first landing of our main stairs.

That's a hellova lotta Christmas trees. Kinda takes the special out of the tree if there is one everywhere you look.

We have a fairly large home and we were on the local Christmas house tour. I didn't mention the number of poinsetta's and other arrangements my wife had. About 2/3 of the stuff is now put away and she says we are not doing the home tour next year. Thank God, caused it cost me some serious change.

Normally, we only have two trees.

That says it all. I understand.

Mine is fake from Target for some decorative effect for my condo during the holidays. Downside is because I won't have a rotting tree in my living room, it will probably be up well into February before I get motivated to pack it up and move it into storage.

For many years we had at least three: living room, family room, and the largest and main one was in the dining room. Now, no trees go up. We now travel for several days over the Christmas holiday, so we don't see the need to put one up.

Ours is artificial, but we tried to be proactive and get it down the week after Christmas this year (one year it got left until the next since it was in a room we didn't use for anything). The only reason I ever want to take it down is because I enjoy putting it up and decorating so much. We're planning to add a few smaller themed trees next year, since we have a very closed off floor plan, which would help to keep it from being tree overload.

Probably the most enjoyable part of our holidays was the Christmas home tour we participated in. Had more than a hundred different people/groups of people tour our home, very respectful, seeming almost like a live Currier & Ives Christmas scene (the people, their smiling faces with everything else secondary).

We didn't expect it to be that much fun, however, we were not prepared for the amount of work prior to the tour (nor was I aware of how much it would cost me-I would have been better off writing a check to the organizing group). My wife already said that although she enjoyed it, she doubts if she will do it again next year because of the shear amount of work undecorating (no complaints about decorating!).

There were 5 homes on the tour and we were to tell the history of our homes, etc. Few of the other hosts were real stuffed shirts. We approached ours differently with cookies, wine, beer and grog for our guests. History (stories) were made up by me depending upon the demeanor of the guests.

I did this once.... never again. It was a lot of work and money. The worse part was losing control over who comes in your house.

You make a very good point about the visitors. Ours is a fairly small town (8,000 roughly), and visitors were to have purchased tickets to do the tour. Most were women, from age 45 through their 70's, although there were a couple much younger. Only a handful of men and no kids at all. Still, it is disconcerting having a number of visitors/strangers in your home at one time, particularly since we have some fairly valuable antiques.

It was a lot of work and a lot of money. But it was probably the most enjoyable day of our holiday season, though we will now relegate to memory status!

We've always enjoyed the holiday season and decorating. We've been married 31years plus, with 3 daughters-ages 30, 28 and the youngest turned 11 the other day. We've always been close, but the holidays always seem to draw a family closer.

^^^Overall I was happy to do it, and had fun with it, but never again. We're too private and introverted to have a continuous flow of people, mostly strangers, through the house. Glad you had fun.
