Red wing gentleman's traveller

I've been told by a buddy that a store in Columbus (where I live) let him negotiate the price a bit on a pair of these because he is acquainted with an employee, as am I. He says that I could probably negotiate the price down a bit and even if I couldn't, I'm really tempted by these boots.

Anyone had experience with them? Tips on quality and/or fit?
