Boutique hotels in vegas

I stayed at the Bellagio, fucking hated it. Incredibly crowded, tacky... just gross. Moved to the Wynn... much much better. But I still would maybe a like a place without a casino to keep most people out. I enjoyed vegas a lot but I don't give a fuck about gambling and in the place I live I'd like to see as few fanny packs as possible.

I did see a Four Seasons and a Mandarin Oriental, but they were attached to larger casino hotels. Is there really not a smaller, posh place for people who want to enjoy the city but want to avoid the crowds/tacky people?

I think Furnace Creek Inn is probably your best bet. Make sure to stay in the inn and not down the road in the trailer park.

Why go to Vegas if you don't like gambling? That's like going to the Caribbean if you don't like warm weather.

Four Seasons isn't horrible. I detest the Wynn. Much tackier even than the Bellagio, which is kind of like comparing McDonalds and Burger King, anyway.

Also in City Center is Vdara. I haven't been to either, personally. But I do know that there is no gambling there.

I priced the Mandarin. Yikes. A decent size suite starts at 2k a night. I know this will meet with SF derision, but 2k a night is out of my comfort zone for a Vegas hotel room. If I remember correctly, even just a normal, tiny king bed room was $450 or so. I'd rather drop $450 at the Venetian or Bellagio and get a suite.

The Four Seasons is OK. It is attached to Mandalay Bay (which has a casino), but it is separate. There's a slightly hidden door that takes you from the 4S to the MB casino, if you want to, but none of the trashy MB people walk into the 4S, which is actually rather quiet. The Mandarin Oriental is better, but also more expensive.

How is it tackier? I'm genuinely asking. The Wynn has less faux italian decor, is more of just a modern monstrosity than a sad excuse for an italian 'palace'... a large part of it is hidden from view on purpose by trees, the restaurants are in general much better and the sorry to say, but there are far, far less poor people hanging around.

I wouldn't say that I liked it, but it's much better than the Bellagio.

2) Huge amount of events/comedians/MMA/Boxing
3) Shopping if you care about that

2k is a lot of money. I actually liked The Palazzo/Venetian better. The hordes seemed to stay out of the actual hotels, whereas the Bellagio you felt like you were at a fucking country music concert 24/7. It takes 10 minutes to get to your room from the lobby... full, disgusting, lots of fat people in sweat pants. I honestly felt like I was at a Comfort Inn.

Venetian was much quieter, and of course had Bouchon which is tucked away. The decor is incredibly gaudy but it's Vegas.

This is kind of creepy but I got suckered into going to a steak house... SW Steakhouse at the Wynn. It's supposed to be the best in Vegas and I have to say, the least testosterone driven steakhouse I've ever been to.

As an app I had a giant piece of seared foie over brioche... thought of you. I can't believe I thought of a person on the internet as I was eating.

I shared a rare pepper encrusted chateaubriand for 2 that wasn't bad at all. It was actually one of the more expensive meals I had which was puzzling, as I'd probably rank it just above Spago which was my least favorite meal.

Well, the Bellagio is what was the image of kla$$y ten years ago, and the Wynn is basically the same, but for today. I am inured to what was, and still struggling with the new.
