Someone tried to mug me last night

This homeless dude, drunk off his ass, tried to rob me last night around 2am. I'm physically fit and got into a lot of fights as a younger person, but I'd never, ever fight someone that desperate. He was drunk though, so I pushed him pretty hard and he fell to the ground. It was icy so I had to be careful not falling on my ass when I tried to get away.

Should I have called the police? I really don't feel like filing some big fucking report. What would it have entailed?

I don't think this person posed a significant threat. I've been living in major cities my whole life and have felt far more in danger, and this was really the first time someone ever tried to attack me.

He followed me and kept grabbing my coat telling me to give him him my wallet. He was so drunk that it really didn't seem threatening. Then he pulled me hard enough so that I turned and faced him and grabbed the collar of my jacket at which point I just pushed him... not exactly Fedor shit. If he weren't such a mess I would have definitely just given him money and gone off, but I think a 10 year old could have taken care of him.

glad you came out of it ok. honestly, you should have called the police - I hear that the people who really end up hurting their victims are the really stupid muggers like that. the next time he could kill somebody by mistake.

Who gives a shit? It's not like he's going to remember.

You did the right thing. Usually when some drunk tries to start problems I walk away, but once they start grabbing me... it's on. It's lame to beat on a drunk, but some really go out of there way.
