Well, out there in the real world style counts for about 98% and excellent fit and tailoring for about 2%. Most people just don't see clothes the way we do, they see something that appeals to them because of color, or cut, etc.

SF and other forums are unique because the focus is often on fit, with less emphasis on style.

Style is critical, but dressing like a peacock (too many colors, fancy detailing, unusual cuts, etc) makes one look frivolous and amateurish. If the outfit fits poorly on top of that, it's just sad.

Yeah, they way he presents himself on his site and such it seems like he is very into himself. But I don't think he is too flamboyant. He puts himself together well.

To us yes. People out there don't think "amateur!" when they see someone overdoing it. And, unless the fit is so obviously off, they are not going to notice.

Well, let' s look at it objectively.

He is a young guy who is somehow related to the clothing business. I think maybe he is a personal stylist. He is into clothes, to the point where he has a blog about style and features himself. He won the EBDRM contest. These are all factors that are going to lead people to conclude that his is way into himself, or flamboyant, or whatever. I take it all as par for the course.

I think he looks pretty good in his clothes and I bet he goes over pretty well with the ladies (or guys, I have no clue what he is into ).

I think people on SF like to theorize about fit, judge people on static photos, then attempt to act like experts when they have never even posted pics of themselves or otherwise demonstrated they actually know what great fit is besides what they think they learned from being on SF.

I think one can have less than perfect fitting clothes but still have great style - although it is hard for many people to do. We see this on the non-sartorialist (and very rarely on the sartorialist) photo thread. On the other hand, I think one can elevate one's style with perfectly tailored items even if all of the components are generally staid.

Are you f****** serious? These threads are a waste and should be banned; no go off and read your GQ.

I'll probably post a few photos of myself this year ... mostly for the fun of it. The reactions just kinda make my day. Besides Gotta give 'em fodder.

He takes time to respond to comments on his blog and seems to be doing something he's enjoying in his line of work as a stylist/dept. store buyer. If anything, some of the posters on WAYWRN are more "douchy" in their preening selection of wild colours and patterns and obviously clashing eyeglasses that scream "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! NOBODY APPRECIATES ME!" If he was a poster on here you'll all be on his balls.
Agreed!! It's easy to try and take down someone who is out there doing something that is daring, takes balls and confidence. It's also easy to talk a bunch of bullshit on some forum and post retarded pictures of yourself and not feel bad because 90% on the posters on here are 40+ and all dress the same, boring as hell...

Agreed again!! Have you people truly looked at yourselves on these WAYWRN posts??? 75% of you dress like crap!!! Take another look yourselves and then take another look at Style Blogger, here are some examples of how you so-called experts dress: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=210130 http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=199861 http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=165694 Style is no longer what it used to be, you refer to Agnelli, who I will not cut down but point out that while he was indeed 'stylish,' I am sorry to say that he ALWAYS looked the same, wore the same stuff etc. Same with Cary Grant and all of these other old-timers out there who are famous for being stylish..... It's no longer so easy to be labeled as such, it's takes balls and the ability to do something different yet still look good. While I can't say that I like every outfit that Style Blogger wears, I will say that he dresses better than any of you on here and he proved that by winning Esquire's little contest. Why didn't all of you shit-talkers enter??? And if you did, YOU MUST HAVE LOST!!!! All this emphasis on fit and bespoke and this and that doesn't mean SHIT, if you can't dress well and put the pieces of your outfit together well. And if you look at those WAYWRN photos, I will admit that many of you have very nice pieces but you jumble it all together like a full-english breakfast and what does it end up looking like??? MUSH!! Many of you guys still wear baggy-ass suits that look 3 sizes too big. I mean come on, quit hating on the young guy and just admit that all of you conservatives are a bunch of tight wads who will try and knock down anyone daring and 'really' stylish..... Dan is not the least bit douchey and egotistical. Even when I have told him that I found his outfits to be not so great, he always responds in a respectable and positive manner. That's commendable! QUIT HATING!!

nobody can honestly say he doesnt dress well. He has a platform to show off his clothes and a ton of people see it. Hell, it would give me a big head too. Ive never met the guy so im not gonna say hes a prick.....I do know for a fact from the pics that he has a great wardrobe though. better than most here.
