I responded inline to the quote.

Without knowing more about your job, it's hard to say but here's my suggestion:

Do you plan to wear them in the rain or snow often?
Rain yes snow no.

Do you work in an environment where it's likely your shoes will get heavily scuffed or stained?
Possibly, I walk a lot on black top and also in and out of cars. Getting in and out of cars I have a tendency to scrape the plastics in the driver area.

Does your workwear consist primarily of jeans or khakis and a shirt without a jacket?
Jeans and chinos, although I'm trying to stay away from jeans now and wear more chinos. I would like to start wearing some wool trousers but haven't invested in the first pair yet.

Do you plan to have other shoes for days when you need to dress up more or evenings out?
Yes I want to get suede chukkas and some leather Chelseas for non work ours. I'm trying to build a wardrobe prior to career change.

The more of these questions you said yes to, the more appropriate those ECCOs are. In my opinion, if you said no to 2 or more, I would get some Chelsea boots instead. I'm really digging some Herring Wilsons...may be my next purchase as well.

Anyone have any idea about the loake haxman.

Unfortunately for me, last month I was vacationing in Buenos Aires and wore my Ecco shoes out for a fancy meal. I noticed the shoes were falling apart as I left my table. It was embarrassing. As other people have mentioned, they make a HUGE mess with tiny crumbles of black crap all over the place. Rather than pack them in my suitcase to travel back home with them, I threw them out AFTER taking many photos of them. I contacted ECCO USA, who were going to replace them, but told me they do not ship to Canada. They referred me to ECCO Canada. Unfortunately ECCO Canada’s customer service leaves much to be desired. They only responded to my email after sending emails several days apart, and they refuse to offer any compensation without being able to “inspect” the shoes. They admitted there was a problem with the soles of the shoes, and I attached numerous photos of the shoes, but they don’t care about my plight. It’s not like ECCO shoes are inexpensive, and after their less than stellar customer service, I will never purchase another pair of ECCO shoes, nor would I ever recommend them to anyone.

i had that happen with a couple of pairs that i bought on eBay. fortunately, buyers responded immediately. i have read that there was a new formulation for the soles that did not wear as they had hoped. i've bought a couple pairs new since then and have not had that problem.
