You've mis-read what I wrote. The front blade should be at the top of the waistband, but if not all one's ties are the correct length, or one's trousers are higher than normal, or one is not so tall, the length in the small blade may be too long. I would tuck it in rather than tie a bigger knot or allow the large blade to hang lower. Later I would have them altered or get future ties custom made.

What ties are too long for you, if I might ask? I was just curious since you're not quite a short fellow.

Could you not alter your knot so that depending on the lenght of the tie, the knot would use more/less of the tie length?

For "short" ties, I would do a FIH/Pratt, for "longer" ones I would do a (half) windsor.
