I love my STi. I have 2007, it is a Cobb Stage 1. For me, a rally nut, it was something I waited to get for a long time. Also, as a father of two, it was practical. It has its downsides, the interior blows (although the seats are supportive and comfortable), the paint is less than stellar, it has no real amenities, etc.

However, it has great grip, a willing powerplant, great brakes and is quite capable and fun to drive. It was also cheap, considering what you get for the money. It has been reliable as well.

Biggest problem is that every kid with a tweaked Honda, or a Camaro/Mustang or pickup wants to race it. I generally abstain, although I have retired a few challengers here and there.

I do wish it had a greater sensation of speed, like one poster noted. I have owned much quicker cars, but none that I could rely on for a daily driver. It is what it is, a 300HP compact car with AWD. I would consider another one...although I do wish they would offer it with true dual clutch paddle system. Maybe that is in the works since the Evo is now available that way. Not that I don't enjoy rowing gears, but the driveline is not happy when you abuse it....like when you powershift it or launch it hard. A paddle system would be a nice touch.

Still.....I have been craving a return to a naturally aspirated V-8 RWD format....like a Boss 302.

Sounds like the S4 would be the next step up from the STi.

However, aren't they switching to a turbo 6 rather than the v8 again?
