Car Help for a Young Professional: Sentra vs. Civic

I'm about to graduate college and I'm looking to take advantage of these year end car deals. Right now I have it narrowed down to the Honda Civic and the Nissan Sentra. My mom wants me to get a used BMW but I don't want to send the wrong message with probably having a nicer car than my boss. I want to blend in as much as possible as far as automobiles go. Does anyone have any opinions? I'm probably leaning toward the Civic as I like the way it looks...but I still haven't made up my mind.

in my opinion yes, although i don't love either. civic feels like a boxcar to me.

the honda would be far more age appropriate. The nissan will come off more as a gift your mommy gave you because they are safe and she liked the shade of beige it came in.

I'm not sure I even know what these cars look like, but instinct tells me the Civic would be a better choice.

I've got a recent Civic Si, and I love it. It's an inexpensive, fun car that has plenty of power for its weight, but it can be driven civilized day-to-day. It's cheap to run, cheap to insure, and is a fun autocross/track day car if you're interested (although you'll get your butt kicked by the Cooper S). The sedan only gives up 60 pounds on the coupe and is a lot more usable (easy to open the doors w/o hitting stuff in parking garages, has 60/40 fold down rear seats.)

Oh, and if you're a "young professional" don't modify a damn thing on either car. Although I doubt you'd be asking here if you were the type that would consider that.

I wouldn't worry about a partner at a CPA firm having a crapper car than an older, used BMW. As long as your mom will foot the bill for your maintenance, take the BMW. Failing that, take the Civic.

I would recommend a used Civic or Accord, EX, bone stock. I would go 4-door since you can throw your briefcase and odd jacket in the back seat easier instead ofhaving to put them in the trunk.
