I think it's related to the My Lil Bronie phenomenon.

Back in college I did an internship and at lunch some coworkers and I started talking about favorite TV shows. I brought up Buffy and an older lady proceeded to tell me how only goths and people obsessed with "devil imagery" would watch a show that featured vampires and demons. This struck me at the time as an odd and frankly dumb leap to make.

Drawing a connection between being a fan of a show with a strong young female lead and enjoying cartoon ponies has that beat. Congratulations. :slayer:

We are a little more than mid way through season 3 at the moment. I'm questioning my determination for the show once we hit 6 and 7 as the writing and production values start to falter.

How did she handle "Passion"? I always thought that was a game changer episode.

I have great news! The Dacia Sandero, No, wait, I mean Netflix, has all the Connery Bond movies again. Including, strangely enough, never say never again.

Also, they have A Late Quartet. And Top Gear.

To append to the above, it looks like they have some of the Roger Moore and Brosnan films, as well as On Her Majesty's Secret Service. So I guess this means Netflix made up with Sony pictures.

Now the bad news: the search function on Netflix streaming, at least for the AppleTV, is back to crap. You can no longer search by genre, cast, etc. anymore. Only by title again.

Science Fiction films:

Event Horizon
The (original)Andromeda Strain
Planet of the Apes (original, and apparently none of the sequels)
Strange Days
Barbarella
The Final Countdown
Pi
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Slaughterhouse Five
eXistenZ
The Crow
Rollerball (original)
Lockdown
Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan (Which cannot be found in search under Star Trek, but only under "Khan")

Apparently, Netflix has unfixed their horrible search function.

I thought eXistenZ was underrated, not necessarily because it was that good but just because the plot seemed so unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Same with Eternal Sunshine.

along the same theme, Punchdrunk Love, just the way it was directed, the dialogue, sounds, etc, I remember it being like nothing I'd seen before. Totally didn't like it the first time 'round, but it's grown on me.

The Matrix struck me as a dressed up version of eXistenZ. I remember debating a friend of mine who thought Matrix was about the most original thing he'd ever seen, while I thought it was highly derivative (but still great).

It also has a lot in common thematically with Dark City.

...and The Thirteenth Floor, which is not as good as any of these but is still entertaining, and most importantly: Gretchen Mol.

I visit Shell Beach, CA frequently and it always reminds me of Dark City. Great movie.

Just learned this intriguing tidbit about Dark City from IMDB:

A number of pieces of the set, including those used for the rooftop chase, were sold to the production of The Matrix at the end of shooting.

bump. Sick of typing in classics I want to see only to discover they aren't available, don't have time to wade through the garbage.

At least they have Battleship Potemkin now.

Get Hulu plus then - it streams much of the Criterion Collection.
