American Business Suit Fit Critique

Frame of Reference: I work for a 50 Year Old American technology firm, very old school. My position is outdoor sales in Manhattan which entails each season of extreme weather; sweaty summers of 90 degree subway platforms and winters trekking through dirty slush. I have a handful of elegant, well fitting suits and a couple modern suits. However, I'm looking to tailor to the boring old school managers by bridging an American classic. It's not my style, will take time to get use to the longer politician suit jacket. Is this suit serviceable for $195 + $40 waist suppression & $30 sleeves thinning. In my search I saw a sleek Ralph Lauren by Corneliani grey pinstripe at Saks 5th that may be $490 after Christmas, felt like an exoskeleton but it seemed too loud & too fashion forward to roam the office & pavement guilt-free about. A 40r, a 39 had my biceps protruding.

You seem to require a different cut altogether. And the center vent on that one isn't going to look good once you have the waist nipped. What brand is that suit? I ask because clearly that isn't a Polo/Corneliani

It's a Brooks Brothers 346 stretch suit. It looks very boring & unfashionable. Below is my typical style with the higher armholes & hugging waist. I may just scrap the whole American style idea and keep it in my comfort zone. I am also thinking the $200 + $100 in tailoring when I can get an ideal suit for $200 more. But still wanted to get the general consensus.

It seems like you already have some decent suits. Stick with those and don't worry about trying to look like an American politician wearing a boring suit and an ugly tie.

Why are your pants so long and uncuffed in your "typical style?" The other suit was boring by SF standards but perfectly fine by the other 99.999999999999999% of the population who aren't ******* nuts.

I would stick with your suits. They actually fit well. Actually the jacket is good. The pants are too long though. Cut about an inch and a half. If the pants look too stocky, ask the tailor to thin the legs out a little as well.

Don't waste your money on a loose fitting, boring suit.

Pants were trimmed & shorten 2 weeks ago, that picture is from the summer. Just an experiment and gauging my interests, I have a month to return the suit.

+1,000. The second suit is way better, it just has too much break. You are over-thinking this.
