I think they may need to get them from the UK because they come on 220V cords, so they probably pay for that as well.

cant you just use converters? prolly a big hassle, but i think my mom has two kitchenaids (i think one of them is the professional one) and she just runs them on converters.

you could but it's a hassle, and it's clunky to have those huge power boxes on the counter too. I said the something about that regarding Piobaire's SV Supreme; I'd not be able to use one because I fear running a 110->220V upconverter nonstop on a high-power appliance for like 45 hours would probably catch something on fire eventually.

Looking at the Kenwood website (I have the basic "Chef Premier" mixer without any attachments yet) it appears Kenwood also makes a mixer with an induction heating system for the bowl: http://www.kenwoodworld.com/uk/kenwo...ingChef/Home1/
