That or he's still stuck in the one-season wear disposable denim merrygoround. Cost only 20 bucks, why pay an additional 50% of cost to fix it.

In Japan, they'll hem your jeans at the point of sale for the equivalent of a couple dollars. Do they not do that elsewhere? Maybe I'm just spoiled.
