Drink Recommendations - Page 2

Mulled wine/cider drinks are the best for a broad population - not as chintzy as punch, not too fussy either.

If you're worried about a drink being too strong, make it in a smaller proportion. A classic cocktail contains 3 - 4 oz. of alcohol, with an additional 1 - 2 oz. of water added by the process of shaking or stirring in ice.

I like this recommendation. It's the drink of choice for my co-op building's holiday party. Warm and not too strong.

Do you mean drinks you can order out? I pretty much gave up on that. The French 75 is a stunner, but I don't think of it as holiday drink necessarily. I'd also point out that it was named after a Howitzer because many feel it hits like one -- champagne plus gin. My holiday drink of choice is called the Alabazam (again, not a drink you can order at your corner bar -- search SF for a recipe) -- it is brandy, lemon juice, Cointreau, and bitters. Combined, it is like brandy with oranges and a lot of spices from the bitters (there are a lot in the recipe and are essential!). Tastes like Christmas to me. ~ H
