I completely lost it at the following:

"Well, it depends. There's such a book, but it depends on what you're ordering."

. . .

"What if I'm ordering this wallet?"

I understand that there are limitations, but someone in the store should be able to explain them--particularly since the men's shop is being touted as a bespoke atelier.

why did you put up with that exchange though? would you really have wanted to patronize hermes after her/their insistent rebuff?

Oh, and I did think about April in Paris. I don't like her wallet design (with the curved pockets), I don't like the colors she uses, and I can't meet her personally to specify something else.

Have you seen their breast wallets? I suggest you visit the shop and ask to see them.

New SF meme:

"I can't discuss that at this time."
"It depends."
"On what?"
"I can't discuss that at this time."

Man up and buy one in Alligator or croc, that'll get their attention.

I think you have to establish a relationship with a senior SA over a few years, and then maybe she'll offer you a special order if there's something you want that they can't find for you. At least this was the case with my gf, who was only able to order stuff after buying several purses from the same SA over many years. At the mother ship in Paris it may be different, but I think it is still pretty much true that you can't just walk in off the street and place a bespoke order. I am also not sure how eager they are to accept special orders for small items like a breast wallet.

makes a lot of sense. she didn't want to tell you:

"we only do special orders for ballers. I don't recognize your nondescript wide asian face but perhaps you could leave your name, so I can search for it in my Hermes Baller Database and also cross-check it with RichAZNSwhoarenotfamous.net in case this is your attempt at signing up for entry into HDB. Once I assign a Baller Score to you, then some french person in Paris can decide whether we can do this order for you."

My guess is that if your response to:

"There are many different levels of custom order. It could be two-thousand dollars or twenty-thousand."

had been:

"I'll go with the latter"

then you would have magically been able to order the wallet.

I'm sure they would have loved to have fitted you for some suits. But why the hell would you want to do that?

They are much more elitist with their leather goods...

prob...they don't bother making a custom 2K wallet......you go with what is in stock or you get a custom 20k one...
