NYE in DC - Page 2

I am staying at a hotel in Ballston tomorrow night. Reason being, I have to ride a bus to Pittsburgh at 5am leaving from Ballston to attend the winter classic hockey game. That out of the way, I will either be doing my new years eve in Ballston or one of the nearby areas (clarendon perhaps). Any commentary on locations around there that will be great/awful for NYE? I am considering Rock Bottom in Ballston, or maybe one of the typical Clarendon locations (ballroom etc?). Thanks in advance.

Against all my NYE preferences, I will be checking out a hotel party. Supposed to be $140 a person but I'm getting my friends and I in for free (wait til they say I'm not on the guest list when we get there). Open bar for a couple of hours then $15 cocktails (very well made) from then on. Will probably try to hit up a friends party at her apartment sometime before the countdown.

SloppyHo, didn't hear anything about Vetro's party so I guess I'm further out of the loop than you. If it's a private party it should be good. If not, Lima (you have to get to the third floor of Lima to get there) will be a wreck.

I should have my new camera working tomorrow so will post pictures.

Is this the party with Doug E. Fresh DJing? I forget which hotel maybe the W with J&G Steakhouse? Cool looking place if that the deal, hot high end chicks the night I went to dinner there.

What did the OP and the rest of the DCers end up doing? I went to the house party with a friend. He brought one of his friends, who ended up leaving the party early. Lame. My friend got the number of a woman with an 8-year-old son, I got the number of a woman who lives in Greenbelt.

Slopho, yeah it was Doug E Fresh at the W. The night before, I contacted the promoter and it turns out the guest list was only to get to the hotel lobby no open bar included (unless you paid the $140) and would probably have to pay the hotel staff to get from lobby to the actual rooftop bar.

In that case we decided against the hotel and went to a houseparty in Arlington. Bought about $40 in booze and partied with 20-30 strangers. From the metro to the houseparty, we drove past clarendon ballroom and Spider Kellys and both seemed to have a decent crowd.

This did sound like it was going to be more trouble than it was worth. I will say this though, the lobby is fine if you just wanted to hang out and drink, full bar and I think there would have been some ladies there in the same situation not wanting to pay the full $140

Maybe. I went there for a christmas party the week before (same promoter) and the lobby was a bit of a clusterfuck with a massive line to get up the elevator. Didn't want to spend NYE dealing with that shit. Instead we played outdoors flip cup at the house and probably did a few keg stands.

Sup, Puddin. We need to hang soon it's been a while. Yeah I considered Uhaull but decided to choose between a fancy hotel party for free or random houseparty. Really hate bars on NYE unless desperate.
