Your rule is going to have to go out the window. Invite everyone except for the trouble maker. He needs to know that being unnecessarily violent and causing mayhem is going to result in him being rejected by others and from society. If he doesn't figure it out soon enough, he will be in jail when he is older for thinking he can just get away with things. Plus it's probably a 2-3 hour child's birthday party, a year from now you, this kid, and your own will hardly remember anything about it.

You may be on to something there. Especially the hostile part.

All jokes aside - he is pretty bloody perfect so far. Today is his 9 month birthday. It's me that needs edjamacating - from good parents like you and GT.

i'm not a parent by any stretch so take this with a HUGE grain of salt: i'd simply invite the entire class except for the bad kid. big deal. maybe the knucklehead will play nice next time, lest he miss more fun stuff like parties. it's your kid's party. neither you nor your child should have to worry about this knucklehead's behavior.

I consider being clueless or in denial to be a less obvious form of not caring.

thanks for asking - my son decided today to invite the whole class, his choice, he's been thinking about it for a while, we told him we had to send out the invitations now.

I will talk to the kids parents.
