But god dammit you are like a little kid yelling "HEY MOM OVER HERE MOM LOOK NOW MOM MOM". Seriously, think twice before you post. Every thread I enter I see your post with some worthless condescending shit.
Do you suffer from a low self-esteem, dawg?

hey layercakes, what do you recommend this guy buys then?

I will be wearing both nearly every day. Will they match together? Are they versatile? Also, if those are good choices, what clothes would match well with them? I think I would like to get some jeans, cords, flannels, and then some button-down shirts and maybe a cashmere sweater. I currently have ZERO nice clothes, so I am pretty much starting from scratch. I dress almost solely casual, I am still a high school student. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Some additional info. I'm about 5'10" and 120 lbs, so I am very lean.
This thread is full of lose, but I will try and imagine what I would do in your situation if I had to go back and do it all over again. Firstly, I don't know how cold winter gets where you are (I'm from Australia, so you can imagine our winter is pretty tame.) I would say, however, a peacoat is probably not very suitable for a high school student, a bit too mature I reckon (maybe I'm old fashioned...) Also, if you're going to buy a peacoat, I would recommend saving up and buying a good one later down the track - the 'wool blend' + 'poly lining' doesn't sound promising...but that's up to you. In terms of function, a well made down jacket or something similar could serve you well. You could also consider some military inspired or military reproduction jackets, with a synthetic/nylon fabric or a cotton twill fabric, which could be worn for a more casual look. For winter, I'd recommend getting one or two good quality sweater and a nice hoodie...I'm somewhat of a fabric nerd, so I'd prefer loop-wheeled cotton fabric (not as expensive as good quality wool, but warmer and more durable than el cheapo cotton fabrics). I would strongly urge you not to buy any cashmere at this stage - would be quite expensive, and a laundry nightmare for mum. Maybe wait a few years for the finer things. I have a few cashmere sweaters from Kiton, Brioni, etc (I don't remember any more) which I never wear because cleaning them can be such a pain...stick with a nice, loop-wheeled cotton fabric - easy to maintain, and offers a similar level of comfort. Brands I would recommend (and note my bias here) include Cheswick, Buzz Rickson's, etc (you can kop their sweats and hoodies on sale on Rakuten), or if you have more money to burn than brands like Cushman's, Deluxeware, UES, Riding High, The Flat Head, etc make some of the best cotton clothing in the world (in terms of construction and material.) The brands above tend to have a vintage, sporty styling which I think is quite suitable for high school. Nothing too designer, nothing too experimental - just cuts that have proven to be smart and functional over many decades. Similarly for shirts (whether it be flannel, chambray, duck, tweed, etc) I would recommend the above brands due to their superior materials and construction - they will be a tad expensive, but compromise by just having a couple that you can wear day in and day out. Feel free to disagree, and I'm sure there are stores near you that sell these type of shirts at a more student friendly price - just to add that flannel is almost on its way out (if you care about that kinda thing), so I would stick with more solid colours and fabrics that are not brushed. For jeans, you only need one or two pairs of good quality denim. Again, note my bias when I recommend mostly the Japanese brands (for a young man with a thinner build, brands like Skull, PBJ, Imperial, etc can work quite well) or a pair of ROY denim (oh yeah~~~~~). Stick to a reliable slim cut, with a traditional indigo dye and a fabric between 13 to 15 oz (let's start with basics, you can explore the weird and wonderful world of Japanese denim when you have more dough). And then, to round it up, get yourself a nice natural vegetable tanned belt and wallet. Join my Unlucky group order and I will tell you all about leathers, ahahaha As for footwear - those boots seem nice and functional...I'm not too familiar with boots apart from brands like Tricker's or Yuketen, etc (which will probably be more suitable for you later on), so I can't help. I was wearing shiny basketball shoes all throughout high school - so you've got one up on me by even considering wearing something made of leather :P I am basically turning you into a younger version of myself; feel free to object.

Think I would go with scourage on his advice. Lurking for a while then getting his own impression of what he think looks good.

Again, I think this is about the same as someone telling him to invest in some drapey Rick Owens stuff. Your suggestions may be more versatile and functional, but they're still unfathomable for an 18 year old. I don't know what you were walking around in at 18, but I can't imagine the guy dropping the money for a Buzz Rickson loopwheeled crew neck or PBJ's. It just doesn't seem attainable at that point.

BR sweatshirts can be copped on Rakuten on sale for around $80 (they are actually mid-range loop-wheeled clothing)...Cheswick ones even cheaper (can be found at around $40 to $50 on sale), the basic skulls and PBJs can be obtained for around $200. I see plenty of younger folks rocking these around the denim forums - a pair of nice Japanese jeans can be kopped with a week of part-time pay or extorted from parents during Xmas :P

Lots of help, guys, it's appreciated. I have a lot to learn. I do have the money to burn, but I'd definitely prefer to keep it unburnt.
