It won't help with browsing speeds but Chrome has a known issue with older versions of the FLASH plugin that could fuckup general browsing. Type this aboutlugins into the address bar and report back what version of the flash and java plugins you are using

Update your flash plugin at the Adobe site and get the newest version of Chrome. Download this Java application for Windows and run it: http://www.java.com/en/download/

Downloaded java and new flash. But my Chrome says that the version is up to date and there are no new updates.

I'm on PC, latest version is .224 and showing as up to date. This is useful for keeping current with software updates. http://filehippo.com/updatechecker/ The Update Checker will scan your computer for installed software, check the versions and then send this information to FileHippo.com to see if there are any newer releases. These are then neatly displayed in your browser for you to download.
