USPS Delivery Times - WTF??? - Page 2

I've had 2 envelopes shipped royal/usps mail from the UK to me in the past month. NEITHER of them have arrived yet. Sucks a lot.

I don't want to be a dick and dispute the transaction . . . but how long am I to wait to see if Royal Mail ---> USPS ever gets this scarf to me? Current status when I put the Royal Mail tracking number into the USPS system: Status: Origin Post is Preparing Shipment We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece.

I have no idea. The trousers I bought from an online retailer called My-wardrobe and their policy is, "If you don't receive your item in a month we'll assume it's lost". I suppose I was lucky as they didn't dispute it and I immediately got a refund. With PayPal / eBay or something it might take a bit of wrangling to get your cash back?

Just received an order from the Garbstore in the UK. It was sent via a firm called Deltec. Shipped on the 14th January and delivered on the 18th January which is awesome - it was completely trackable from start to finish . Also, as I'm based in NYC I got the 20% VAT deducted which more than covered the shipping. It also avoided import duties on the way into the States. Awesome experience - I'd definitely recommend.

Having more problemo's with Royal Mail / USPS. Bought a couple of things from Albam on the 30th March. By the 31st I got this from the Royal Mail website: Your item, posted on 30/03/11 with reference RJ630682905GB has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. It's now the 4th April and on the USPS website I'm getting: Service(s): Registered Mail™ Status: Origin Post is Preparing Shipment We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece. Very annoying as this is exactly what I experienced earlier in the year with 2 separate purchases and also a very important letter which completely disappeared in the mail.

They will update the tracking once you have signed for it.

It's now the 6th of April and on the USPS website I'm still getting:

Service(s): Registered Mailâ„¢
Status: Origin Post is Preparing Shipment

We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece.

I've got a horrible feeling I'm going to lose this package as I did earlier in the year. Maybe there's some c**t working at JFK who opens packages and robs people of their s**t.

I can't quite believe it!

Service(s): Registered Mailâ„¢
Status: Arrival at Unit

Your item arrived at 8:02 am on April 07, 2011 in NEW YORK, NY 10009

It looks like the postal service worked out (this time)

Total time from UK - NYC was 8 days.

Dealing with this right now, waiting for a package from the UK.
not knowing where they are is killing me!

USPS has been very slow overall lately. Taking 3-4 days to pick up packages AFTER electronic shipping notification is received. Something sinister in me says its some sort of union thing.

Yet another USPS F****P.

1: On 06/09/2011 I sold a shirt on eBay to a guy in Canada (Toronto) for $70.
2: Promptly mailed it (on 06/10/2011). Guy in Toronto wants to keep mail cost low and so I send USPS 1st Class which offers no insurance.
3: RECEIVE FROM USPS: Processed through Sort Facility, June 10, 2011, 8:43 pm, NEW YORK, NY 10199
4: RECEIVE FROM USPS: Processed through Sort Facility, Jun-12-11, 19:37 PM, LOS ANGELES, CA, 90052
5: RECEIVE FROM USPS: Processed through Sort Facility, Jun-13-11, 00:34 AM, LOS ANGELES, CA, 90052
6: RECEIVE FROM USPS (CURRENT): Your item was processed through and left our LOS ANGELES, CA 90052 facility on June 13, 2011 at 12:34 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination. No further information is available for this item.
7: By 07/05/2011 guy in Toronto is thinking "Where's my item" and I don't blame him.
8: On 07/08/2011 after investigating I see that Canada Post has been on strike - suggest to guy in Toronto that it's lost there somewhere?
9: On 07/14/2011 guy in Toronto tells me he's going to open claim in PayPal (which I completely understand).
10: On 07/14/2011 I call USPS and they can't offer any explanation as to why my item went from NY - LA - ? for delivery in TORONTO
11: On 07/14/2011 I realize I'm fucked and $70 out of pocket.
12: On 07/14/2011 I ask Styleforum members for advice - should I ask the guy in Toronto to split the costs or is it purely my loss which I alone should absorb?

Shit like this is why I always prefer to use FedEX/UPS.

So I received my shirt back the other day...

500

... and it seems to have traveled from NYC - LA - SOMEWHEREINCANADA - LA - NYC when I just wanted it to go from NYC - Toronto.

I took the package to my local Post Office and they didn't want to give me a refund as it had entered Canada and was returned to the US for some reason - I guess I'll never know why. I tried to point out that it was odd that it went from NYC - LA for delivery in Toronto but the c**t behind the desk didn't want to hear it.

I mailed it to the guy in Toronto using UPS for $24.50 so with the USPS shipping the entire thing cost $33+ (about 1/2 the price of the total amount).

I hate the USPS so much it hurts.
