Need a Toronto restaurant rec

Thread Starter
I live here, but for the love of God, can't think of any restaurant here that clearly stands above all others.

I want to take my girlfriend out for an amazing romantic meal -- that said, we're in our early 20s, so I still want to go somewhere that doesn't feel totally staid (read: Scaramouche). Money is no object. I'd like a tasting menu if possible. I've been thinking: Canoe (been there a couple times but have never had the tasting menu), Colborne Lane (have heard the tasting menu is a show but the food, at least off the main menu, is bland), Trevor, North 44, Splendido, Grace. If worse comes to worse, I'll settle for a steak Jacobs and Co.

Suggestions?

George, without question. They do a tasting menu, and most of the time, will serve you and your gf slightly different versions of every course, so you can effectively taste twice as many. Food and service are great, wine list is good, but they will do pairings as well.

Canoe and Splendido are also excellent.

isn't there a thread here that's been going on for years on this topic? yes, yes there has.

anyway your suggestions are fine. since you want a tasting menu your options are more limited -- i also enjoy Splendido and Canoe.
