Edit: I feel like I've done americana goth-light before though and it worked out well. suede buttero combat boots, waxed helmut lang black denim, mj cashmere knit with extended sleeves that went to my knuckles, and a coated linen barbour jacket. so it had the skinny jeans + boots + extra long sleeves thing, and the barbour added something kind of cool to it instead of looking out of place
(Better late than never, eh.) No, I wasn't facetious although it was probably a bit of an overgeneralization. My point was that brands respectively associated with those two aesthetics (for lack of a better word) can and do work toegether without the result looking like a franken-waywt. When done right, I find those fit incredibly more inspiring. The Harnden/EG is an obvious example of brands that look pretty similar while usually being associated with two completely different niches and I find their association refreshing. Similarity is not essential though, CCP +Junya works too, AnnD+visvim etc etc... I feel like this is a pretty trite argument and I'm stating the obvious, the bottom line is that I enjoy the repurposing of brands from completely different aesthetic into one big but still cohesive melting pot, I enjoy the new perspective it offfers infinitely more than any perfect niche fit (dumb term). /rambling
