My grandparents had this exact TV setup in their living room when I was a kid. It was already outdated and too heavy to move, so they just set their newer TVs on top.

a 24" puppetmaster? I'm afraid my dogs would have too much fun chasing him around the house, although if I had that kind of entertainment on tap I'd hardly miss the TV!

Just "any" turntable won't work, you need the best. In that spirit, when it comes to analog TVs, go big or go home:

Analog signal pixel based tv = fail.

Obvious solution is to have people send you film reels of everything you want to watch, and project it.

Is that some sort of holographic projector? Looks like that, or some weird MRI-looking thing.

HMMMM, since I'm trying to eschew digital technology, I wonder how I could still have the SF experience without putting a clone of myself in front of everyone to catch all the interactions.

rear projection tv is the only way to go. last set up I had with that I had a pioneer pro-logic receiver hooked up, with a laserdisc, vhs and betamax hifi players wired to it, plus a sega genesis. man I was baller back in the day.

I've got one of them big digital HDTV's and decided that I can't stand the digitization, the pixelation, the faux/reproductive nature of it all. I want the purest picture I can get, and it only stands to reason that if analog is the gold standard for audio...then so it must be for video, as well.

So, I submit my post in an earnest bid to get your recommendations for a top-notch analog TV, something that would display the truest picture possible, without all that digital processing and "˜resolution' and other mumbo-jumbo. I want something that looks like I am there.

Thank you kindly in advance for your recs.

Get some Tube's or valve TV from the 50´s . If that works on amplifiers as that macintosh, might work on tv...

Is anyone old enough to remember pulling tubes out of the back of the family tv and taking them to the hardware store to test and replace if necessary? I recall going with my dad and using a machine like this: It was always like a mystical, religious experience when we'd return from the store and put all the old tubes back into their sockets, replacing the bad one(s) with newly purchased replacements and then watching the television come back to life!

Even though you're going old-school, make sure you go in style and get fabulous, glorious color!

Careful! Some later laserdiscs were digital!
