[quote=willpower;3902184]Canon 550D / T2I - Also works as a stunning quality video camera.

Agree, got the T2 for my wife and I'm amazed at the quality. We've been through about 3 different cheaper pocket cams in the past 4-5 years, all garbage, this one will last for twice as long. Larger initial $, but worth it in the end.

Spoo, try those same low-light shots with the aperture / f-stop set at the lowest number.

Check out kenrockwell.com. It's a great source.

I disagree. I think Rockwell is a blowhard, a terrible reviewer, and not really objective.

A far superior resource, especially for Spoo (Nikon) is Thom Hogan (byThom).

byThom Nikon D40 review.

byThom Nikon D40 guide (eBook).

The Luminous Landscape (Michael Reichmann) is also a good resource.
