UVA on the UES is quite charming too.

vino or frankies in the east village, bar pitti, dellanima, or morandi in the west village. (the last two are fancier if youre looking to impress..)

Given age and budget, I'd go with Frank's or Supper in the EV.

Your comment about everything in Chelsea being a gay bar is intensely stupid though. Really spectacularly idiotic.

Supper would be a pretty good choice, but when I had went there a few months back it was soooooo crowded and hectic it was somewhat difficult to have a conversation. I'm not sure how it could be a good spot for a date with a girl you just met, unless you go on a random weeknight when it is quieter.

Yes it can be very busy but I guess it comes down to preferences. I don't date anymore but I generally found the quiter, "date friendly" restaurants to be a bit awkward for first dates. I always preferred busier places, even if that meant a little too much noise. Just feels more natural and social. Different strokes...

I don't know where Supper gets their tomatoes but they're very good

I actually find going to a restaurant on a "first date" incredibly awkward to begin with. There are only few things worse than having to sit through a meal with someone you have zero chemistry with, but thats a different discussion for a different day.

As stated in some other threads where the topic was brought up... The company that owned the Flusser Custom operation moved into Paul Stuart. Because I was their employee and not Alan's, I got offered a job at Paul Stuart. I work in the MTM Dept part time and attend FIT full time. I remained friends with Mr. Flusser, he now occupies the floor bellow where his store was and has formed a new company to run his custom business. Basically he's starting over while "Alan Flusser Custom" is now at Paul Stuart but as Paul Stuart Custom, which will begin in mid January. Those who are interested in more specific info on the PS line can PM me
