Romano's Macaroni Grill: What the heck happened?

Despite some really good meals at local non-chain Italian establishments, my wife and I decided to go to Romano's today for lunch. What a disaster. The problems started right away. We ordered the calamari. It was stinky in an expired seafood kind of way with a terrible aftertaste. After two bites we knew something was horribly wrong. Fortunately the manager made right by apologizing (he claimed the bread coating was bad but it seemed more than that to us) and allowing us to change. When the entree arrived, my wife's dish was entirely undercooked. My Penne Rustica had cold prosciutto, vastly undercooked penne pasta, and undercooked shrimp. We should have sent them back but felt like we would be making trouble after sending the appetizer back. We ate barely anything and left quickly. We used to love going here but the food seems to have gone downhill. Maybe this is an isolated instance but it was one of the worst meals I have had in recent memory. A wasted $50 lunch. Romano's is off my list.

Years ago, my date found a rubber band in her salad. Not much else to explain about that. Off list permanently.

Good point, I forgot about that prerequisite to any FINE DINNING experience.

Owned by Brinker (Chili's) now. Even Mr. Romano is unhappy with the current state of things.

Just because it isn't Olive Garden doesn't mean it's not terrible.

Not even ranch dressing could have saved it.

I always called this place "Romano's" for short, and my friends always looked at me funny as to why I didn't call it "Macaroni Grill." Anyway, I haven't been there in a few years. The last time I went the food was really bland.

Sorry AF, but it kind of serves you right for going to such a shitty place to begin with. You should stick to the non-chains and support SMALL BUSINESSES. They are the engine of the economy after all.

You're a regular Jerry Seinfeld.

I hate when I have friends that want to go there for a meal. The only things good there include coloring with crayons, and the accessibility to alcohol.

if this were all you ever posted, all the time, it would be an immeasurably vast improvement.

I must be missing something with the ranch dressing and napkins references.
