I tend to be another in the 'small chunk' camp. I'll give you an example of how I approach such things. I suck at pull ups. I am awful at them. I decided the way I would tackle this would to be 2 pull ups every time I walked past that thing in the gym. Jump on it, pull myself up only twice...drop and continue on my way. I reached a point where I was just mediocre at pull ups (then I got lazy and stopped going to the gym altogether LOL). Anyhow, in your situation, I would basically use the same method. Place camera beside one item, place all items somewhere in my way, and take one photo each time I walked past it so it does not feel like I have a mountain of things to photograph...just one, and that one lay between two things I was doing anyhow.
