The polyester wars!!!!

So my mom bought me a tie last year that is 100% polyester.i have never worn the tie because i think it is to loud and glossy.So today i was looking through a bunch of ties choosing one to wear to work and my wife suggested the polyester one.i told her that i would never wear it because of the material.She then said"when did you become so materialistic, i cant stand you anymore.just because some fag online says it isnt good you dont have to listen." i followed up by repeating this"fag online."?And then i told her that it was ok to have a preference to what you like and dislike.i also told her that the tie was ugly as shit but besides that i didnt know the fine points of why polyester was trash, or should i say"not SF approved"....i had no other reasoning and yes, i read somewhere on this forum that polyester was not SF approved and i will not touch that material and would shy away from buying anything clothing that features it.that being said; is there some real facts/reasoning behind the hate of said material?i would like to continue my conversation with her once i am better informed.

a LOT of cheap girl's clothing is made out of polyester... it's the worst. it looks like crap and feels gross. how people can completely disregard fabrics is beyond me.
