"Ski Deals Abound — Here’s How to Find Them" http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/12/tr...=me&ref=travel Still a crap shoot for if/when/where it will snow .....

It's not cheap, but Baldface in interior British Columbia is easily the best skiing I've experienced. Their "sweet deep" is the stuff of dreams...

OP- oops, my bad. But for anyone looking for an epic mountain, Baldface is it.

That's west coast, although a huge storm is coming in and they're predicting 100+ inches of snow. I went last year for a week and skied at Heavenly Valley. It was terrific. You should consider making an exception for west coast.

How in the hell are you going to get there... six hours from the nearest airport? That's a locals-only mountain if I've ever seen one - I ride constantly across BC and AB and haven't even heard of it!

I rode a week at Heavenly earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed the 4000 skiable acres and did very few runs on groomed trails, though I did encounter "Sierra cement" in spots.

Haha, I know what you mean. That only happened once or twice where I got kinda stuck.

East Coast US skiing sucks. I live in NYC... and don't even bother going skiing anywhere around here. Sugarbush waaaaay up in northen maine is supposed to be ok. But otherwise, small hills, too much ice. If I wanna ski, it's one of the places below. The places to go in the US are: Tahoe Breckenridge(anywhere in the 'west of denver' area inc. vail, keystone, etc.) Alta/Snowbird area (salt lake city) Taos New Mexico Park City (expensive) If you want to "party" you don't want salt lake city. During the week prices are cheaper... so pick Tahoe or Denver depending on who has more snow.

Alta/Snowbird are good for decent skiers with decent cheap on mountain hotels where drinking is par for the course. Co is generally more expensive. Jackson Hole, if you can find a cheap ticket, is incredible.

I usually look on the mountain website as they tend to have pretty good deals. Don't have any recommendations for EC mountains as I am from the West so I feel bad for you having such crappy mountains. I am actually leaving for Whistler in 30 minutes, it will be a nice 2 hour drive and I'll be right at the mountain! 3 days of Snowboarding/partying, I can't wait.
