I'm pretty sure we agreed after the last episode not to try to think too hard about what happens in the show.

Like, say, Jamie (and others, probably) leaving the whole city rigged to explode this whole time, in the first place. Or Tommen and the Sparrow and company leaving Cersei's men (and there are just two of them) in positions of power. Or how Cersei crowns herself queen with just two supporters and no troops. Maybe the army of children helped?

Remember in the last couple seasons when Cersei couldn't even see Tommen, but now suddenly when it's all about to go down she kidnaps him with ease and no one notices?

Your right about that but she has a special bond with them, esp Drogon. She trained them all to a certain degree (to follow her, when to breathe fire, etc.) but they retain their independence and could turn on her at anytime.

Jon's experience beyond the wall and his encounter with Varamyr Sixskins opened his eyes to the powers of skinchanging. At first he did it unconsciously in his sleep. Later he was able to direct it and control Ghost as the surely direwolf's body was his own. He could have total control of the dragon.

So did the scene with Cersei getting dressed in her new battle gear remind anyone else of the Star Wars scene where Anakin makes his first appearance as Darth?

I don't remember that scene, but I wonder but as a Lena Headey admirer the phrase "if you're going into battle be sure to wear your helmet" comes to mind for some reason.

Her servants were dressing her in her new outfit just prior to the start of her trial and the inferno.

I thought the whole song and dance with the Tyrell army earlier in the season was because the smallfolk were fond of the High Sparrow and not crazy about the Lannisters. If Cersei did anything directly against the High Sparrow, the smallfolk might revolt. But they were fond of Margaery and the Tyrells, so they might excuse a Tyrell army rescuing her.

Cersei pretty much just killed the High Sparrow, 6 other septons, some Faith's Militant dudes....and Margaery and Mace.

Seems like she is either going to have a revolt on her hands, or a population very much welcoming Dany.

Yeah, she really doesn't think things through. Is she more chaotic evil than Ramsey or Joffrey?

And, Christ, that scene wit Septa Unella and the Mountain. What the hell was he doing with her? crazy.gifbutbut.gif

Sorry, I was unclear. I meant I didn''t remember the Star Wars scene. Lena was hotter in 300 than GOT, but that's obviously only a relative judgment.

Cersei commands the Lannister army. Those forces simply couldn't act against the High Sparrow for the reasons discussed earlier, but they do exist.

Kevan is gone (and never truly had a claim beyond being hand of the king), Tyrion is out of the picture, and Jaime renounced his claim to the house when he joined the kingsguard (he was acting as a commander of the forces by order of the crown, not by inherited right).

She also probably controls the city guard, although they have been largely ignored in the series after Varys and Littlefinger departed.

It was a major plot point that Tywin took over the city watch when he came in. Kevan took it (and the army) after Tywin kicked the bucket, and he cut Cersei out of the loop completely.

The army they inexplicably gave to Jamie, and it was inexplicably wining and dining the Freys instead of going back like Jamie said he wanted to do in the prior episodes.

I appreciated that the wildfire caused a huge explosion that blew everyone to pieces instead of just burning them alive (like the Dothraki bloodriders with Dany). It was much more satisfying to see them engulfed and annihilated.

Is there a medical explanation for the "I have been stabbed once and can now only crawl very slowly on my belly" plot device that every tv show and movie uses to cause tension?

This scene reminded me of Brazil.
