Cannae was remarkable because Hannibal managed to use a small army to encircle a much larger (and better) one.

The big army encircling the little one -- nothing unusual about that.

Hannibal was great. He loved it when a plan came together

Because I know, that's why.

The author talks about that in the comments, when someone else asked a similar question.

I enjoyed this episode. In the moment, the fight scenes were pretty dramatic. Its possible that some of the battle might not stand up to more intense scrutiny, but that's fine.

No, you should wait to hear what Ataturk and Why have to say about the episode before forming an opinion.

Why is an asshole.

Only Why?

What confuses me is the motivation to watch a tv show that you obviously hate. Can't wait to hear the inaccuracy call outs on the battle with a zombie army

I watch GoT so I can keep telling my friends how much better the books are.

In all seriousness, the battle scene was great. TV production does not get much better than that.

I think people are more upset at show deviation from the elements of the books that made them special:trope subversion, moral ambiguity, poetic character arcs... the show is basically a sitcom set in medieval times at this point. Characters are "good" or "bad" (bad characters are all homophobic, anti immigration, patriarchal/chauvinist, etc), great characters are killed off to make room for dumb ones, character arcs are under-developed or ignored, every new character introduced is some sort of "bad ass" some jezebel blogger can sperg out over...

More intense scrutiny of what? How a battle in a world with wildfire and dragons should look like?

I think I mentioned before it's hilarious how this thread evolved from spoilers (I stopped reading it) to complaining.

The it's-fiction-so-who-cares-if-it-makes-sense argument is infuriating, as usual.

Once the show largely diverted from/passed up the books, this thread went downhill.
