OFFICIAL Game of Thrones Thread - Page 38

I thought it was a great episode. One major reason, I won't read the book ahead of the next season is to not let my experience with the book create expectations for the show. A TV show that actually has to build and cast scenes from a book (not to mention ~12 hours to entertainingly explain a 700 page story) could simply never live up to all expectations. I think it's just about perfect as it is.

Not perfect, but as close as I've ever seen it. Best translation from book to screen I've ever seen, granted the novel lent itself to the small screen really well in the first place.

I won't ever be able to cancel HBO. They just make too many good series.

Every time I'm ready to cancel they come up with at least one good show to keep me hooked. The only shows they have currently in production that I really want to see are Game of Thrones and Eastbound and Down. Boardwalk Empire has some potential but I bet it gets canceled before it gets there.

When they cancelled Carnivale, I got angry. When they cancelled Deadwood, I cancelled HBO heh. GOT is great, but not great enough to justify me paying for HBO.

I liked Carnivale but it seemed like it ran its course. I saw some of the stuff the creator had planned and honestly it was pretty fruity. I think it's better the way it ended.

I doubt Boardwalk will get cancelled, if anything it will be short runned.

Curb Your Enthusiasm & How to Make it in America are also two great shows that they have.
True Blood is alright, not too special anymore.
Entourage is finally ending, thank god.

Upcoming shows: Life's Too SHort (Created mostly by Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais) sounds great. The concept of the show 'Luck' seems great (Horse Racing lifestyle and etc...) but short lived.

They need more quality programming in the likes of the Wire and Sopranos.

I forgot about Curb. It's been on so long I take it for granted.

Ran it's course? Heh, it ended on the biggest cliffhanger ever. I thought the story was great, especially what Knauff had in store.

Just to be clear: This thread should have absolutely no discussion of the book series whatsoever. If you want to discuss how the books pertain to the TV show, use the other thread that was made for that purpose. This is for Game of Thrones and has no relation to A Song of Fire and Ice. As far as we're concerned in here, the books don't exist. No hiding it spoiler tags, either. Spoiler tags are for discussing the latest episode, not for ruining season 2 or 3 for everyone.
