Well, Dinklage is locked in for 5 seasons IIRC, so there's that at least. But yeah, could get expensive to negotiate another contract once that one is up.

Does anyone watch Life's Too Short on HBO? If Warwick Davis is Dinklage's agent he is probably not getting another job - he'll stick around.

Never underestimate HBO's ability and penchant for killing good shows in their prime. GOT is definitely no Deadwood, Rome or Carnivale....but give it 2 or 3 years....it very well could be.

IIRC, Rome was hideously expensive and HBO didn't have full control of production, so the decision to kill it was somewhat out of their hands. Carnivale had terrible ratings and uneven (at best) storylines. I don't think those are solid comparisons to the runaway train success of GoT.

That said, if GRRM keeps his current pace of one book per 6 years, HBO could easily kill it rather than keep carrying the expenses of contacts, locations, sets, etc. on the books forever.

That said, if GRRM keeps his current pace of one book per 6 years, HBO could easily kill it rather than keep carrying the expenses of contacts, locations, sets, etc. on the books forever.

I'm quite confident HBO would move to make the final season without the book being published.

I wrote more about this earlier, but it looks almost certain that the series will be able to make it through the next book, The Winds of Winter, with source material having been published. It's after this that things get hairy, but I'd wager that HBO just makes the next season anyways--they already know what is happening. There may be some small differences, but there already are, and the downsides to this approach are far less than those of waiting.

Jon Snow should be an albino cat with red eyes. Making him black just makes me think it's someone who doesn't read the books because Ghost was effectively written out of the show last season. In Clash of Kings he's pivotal for multiple reasons.

Just came here to say that. Being of short stature, you are limited to what roles you can do. Not to mention he is a fan favorite on GoT and would disappoint a lot of people.

Oh yeah I'm not trying to directly compare them or anything, I realize GOT is far better....but all those shows had potential, especially Deadwood....and personally found Carnivale to have the best story, although that one couldn't have gone mainstream ever. I just wonder if GOT mania is going to last long enough to see the story completed on the small screen.

Oh, I agree. But he/his agent would be a fool not to try to get a large increase when the contract comes up.
