Finally talked the leftette into watching GoT. Last night was the Baelor episode. Appropriate WTF?! reaction was achieved. First words out of her mouth this morning ... "man, that Joffrey is a real cunt."

They have cast Sherlock's brother from the BBC Sherlock. Not sure what for.

Any ideas? Sounds like there are fan theories that he might be Mace Tyrell, but I think with grubby enough makeup, he could be a passable iron islander.

My first thought was Iron Islander as well.

I think of Mace Tyrell as fatter. So, I'm thinking Randyll Tarly. I don't think he looks like Victarion, who's much thicker in the arms and chest. Same with Euron. The other option could by Prince Doran Martell.

The only other time they didn't immediately name who the person was cast for was Ramsay Snow.

Based upon that there are some theories that he's either Bloodraven or the Kindly Man.

I think if you took a big chunk out of Brienne and Dany's POVs in those two books they would've been a LOT better. When I go back and think of my favorite subplots quite a few of them only crystallized in the last two books. And for my money the two best moments in the entire series are in those books...

Agreed, I really hope he isn't Victarion. Vicky needs to be waay bigger. I'm out of badass-disbelief to suspend after having to pretend that TV Loras is a formidable warrior. I also pictured Euron as more of a dashing buccaneer type. He could work as the Damphair though. Possibly Doran, too.

I really hope they ret-con the priest from Theons baptism to being Damphair. He was awesome.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Arya's storyline from A Feast For Crows is incredible. Brienne's is long winded and could use some serious editing, but the Septon's monologue about deserters is beautiful and I hope it makes it into the show. Also, the end of Brienne's story is a hell of a pay off.

In addition to the many chapters of Brienne walking, there are a lot of redundant Jaime and Cersei chapters. I really think that GRRM just had too much mental space invested in these characters and wanted to say everything about them that he had considered. In particular, I think he wanted for Cersei to not necessarily be redeemed, the way Jaime was, but humanized. And that was no easy task at this point.
