Nah I think Renly was pretty smart. Always pointed out Ned's deficiencies, was capable of gathering the largest army, got a smart and good looking wife.

Odd episode.

The wildfire was originally Tyrion's idea. Having it be Cersei's diminished Tyrion.

My guess is that they drop the chain. Too expensive to shoot.

And the one time they could have legitimately thrown in some nudity - the Qarth habit of dressing with one breast exposed - they don't.

smart, possibly, but he was a total tool. if not for loras he never would have even made a run for it. as a king he wouldnt know what to do with himself imo with all the chirping in his ear from every sneaky bastard in weteros. just my take.

Where Renly went wrong was not letting old and heirless (at least on the TV show) Stannis have his shot.

Getting out of kings landing and pulling together his own army was probably better than following through on Ned's plan to bring in Stannis. Once he had his army, he should have kneeled for his brother who had a better claim and taken his hot-beard-wife back to kings landing to wait out Stannis. It was pretty clear in the books that Stannis had essentially given up on trying for a male heir with his wife and his daughter was frail and not likely to do well.

Don't read if you are not at least 3-4 books deep
We know that the Tyrells would have made Renly king in order to make Margaery queen. Grandma Tyrell had no qualms about poisoning Joffrey so that Margaery could marry a king who was less of a dick (and Margaery had to be complicit in it or she probably would have been poisoned by the same wine). So they probably would have found a way around Stannis...Far better for the Tyrells to have the king by both marriage and love.

While it's too early to really be sure, I think I like TV Margaery better than book Margaery.

Haha. IN MY IMAGINATION SHE WAS A UNICORN. THE DISAPPOINTMENT IS PALPABLE.

I think she's super hot in the show. To the point where I audibly went "DAYUM" during the fight scene between Brienne and Loras that she and Renly are watching when Cat gets there. Some people's opinions seem to differ on this point but I'm totally on board.

I was willing to put up with Loras on Renly fluffing action if it meant Margaery got involved too.

Hell, even my wife said she was hot.

All true, but he was never tested in battle.

That dress she wore during the duel OMFG *swoon*. What was up with the dress she had on last episode though? Looked like one of those cones they put on a dog's head to keep it from licking himself after he's been neutered.

 i was wondering what was up with that too. did not look like a very convenient dress to run and escape in either.

Hope the chain stays...maybe they just moved the wilefire to Cersei to give Lancel some information to stay.

Has grandma tyrell been cut? I imagine she and Mace will both be in the show (how could you not keep a character named Mace?) but not until it gets to book 3. I don't even think she is in Book 2.

Mace probably won't show up in person until then either although his forces are needed to join Tywin at the Blackwater.
