In the book the Hound not only shows some compassion for Sansa up to this point, but also some sexual interest. he was extremely drunk when he was waiting in Sansa's room, still covered in blood and gore. You don't really know if he is there to rape her or save her. He holds her down on the bed and Sana sings him some optimistic song about peace and love. The Hound cries, gives her a kiss on the lips, then leaves.
The Hound, Tywin, and Bronn are three characters I wish would get more book/air time.
Also, I read that this last episode was the one George R.R. wrote for this season. I think he did a good job.
