I seriously think Martin is just phoning it in now. His heart clearly isn't in writing the rest of the series, but the money is too good and his publisher would probably sue the everloving shit out of him if he doesn't crank out something. So he'll vomit out some crap, cash the fat royalty checks and go back to playing D&D or whatever it is that he does.
I didn't think Feast for Crows was bad, but I think his decision to split the book into two books, and in that particular way, hurt it. Each of the novels has had their weaker POVs (Samwell, early Dany, Sansa, Catelyn, etc) but for some reason GRRM decided to package the least-popular POVs into one book and deny his audience their favorites.
I expect Dance with Dragons will revive a lot of people's interest in the series when they finally get to see Jon, Tyrion, and co. again.
