So I used to have this Saab 9-5 that I loved and then it developed some crack or something and oil leaked into the water cooling system. My Saab mechanic must have flushed that thing a hundred times and still, every three months or so afterwards, I would go check on the water levels and I could see oil scum floating around inside the radiator.

The Nespresso machine is a bit better because its not a closed loop, but still crap like that can hide in a system forever especially if you are talking about very subtle things like flavors.

^Well, it shouldn't. A ThermoBlock shouldn't be that difficult to descale. Easier than "heat exchanger" espresso machines (sorry for the reference).

@sinnedk: Isn't fiji water like pretty expensive? You can use any kind of bottled water, as long as (Ca*1.4+Mg*2.3)/10<=7 or so. Just make sure it's above 3, else it might overextract. 5-7 is perfect.

Wow. Ordered some coffee, shipped from Montreal, and then it suddenly said item processed in Richmond BC...I am in Toronto...wtf

They also recommend descaling a pixie much less frequently than other machines. I wonder why. I don't think I am ever going to descale again. If my machine starts to get clogged or whatever I will buy a new one, the pixie is only $200.

Dufferin, is it cheaper ordering online than buying in the boutique at The Bay? Or is it just a convenience issue?

I've been a long time Nespresso user (my two Le Cube's, home and office http://www.nespresso.com/cube/) both continue to run great. Arpeggio is my go to. Use both the Arpeggio and Ristretto for my lungos when necessary. Anyhow, I was at the downtown boutique (YVR) on the weekend refilling and the gent behind the bar told me there will be a new dark released at the end of the month. Wouldn't tell me anything (top secret) apparently rolleyes.gif. Also said Nespresso was in the midst of "changing a lot of their current coffees"... whatever that meant. There is hope.

heard linizio longo is replacing the yellow lungo (i think its yellow)

good to know about the dark blend, i wish there would be more lungos

No difference at all really, I could have gone to the Bay but its so hard because I work at Pearson and live in Etobicoke. 

 

They did refund my shipping but it hasn't moved since the 10th when it was still in Richmond..should have just gone to The Bay. :(
