Good call. The only reason anyone has a Miele *Nespresso* machine is for looks and 'class'. Even I would sell it, and buy a Lattissima or something if you're dead set on Nespresso. If not why not a Delonghi or a even a nice Jura. But for over $2600 dollars, a capsule machine isn't worth it...

^^Probably not. Bathroom on the back wall where machine sits so could access water that way. Honestly, I like regular ol' coffee so my french press (and chemex for variety) serve me well. Couldn't see investing 2K+ into expresso machine that I would never use.

 

However, this Miele unit would look great in your place. And you'll be the envy of the guy four posts up. Make me an offer.

P.S. any idea where to get the press screens in the city? Amazon wants $12 each which is ridiculous. Bodum sells them for $4 but wants $7.95 to ship something the size and weight of a postcard.

You don't need to pay 2k$ for an espresso machine. You could even get a good setup for those 400$ that the repair would cost (Gaggia Classc + Graef CM80/90), in case you prefer functionability/QPR over design.

It's crazy that you could buy something decent for $400 and this Miele is $2500. I have no idea where they put the money on this thing. Question though, would it not excite you Nespresso fans to walk into a place with this puppy in place? Adding to my resale value and all that. Already have a garbage disposal which according to today's NYT is all the rage.

I looked the Miele machine. Wow! Hard to explain what the point is, let alone the cost. I would never want that as a built in, partly because of repair issues, and partly because it is made to be obsolete.

So take you off the potential buyer list? If it wouldn't seriously screw up the aesthetics of the kitchen (and I don't think I can get that colour of Aster cabinet anymore) I'd pitch it.

I'll keep that in mind. Do you also want the built-in drawer that sits underneath to hold your capsules? Just realized that guy spent $600 on that.

 

Maybe I'll just break the apt apart and sell it for parts.

Anyone else see an ad for free shipping this month if you use the mobile app? I ordered yesterday and realized I was charged shipping, and now the ad has vanished. Did they pull the promotion or am I imagining things?

Some advice on the best way to get a decent tasting cup of coffee (not an espresso shot) out of the Nespresso machine? I have tried the blue and the gold Lungos and they are not great. Any hacks that people have tried that work? I generally have a nice complement of espresso capsules to work with. Are there after-market coffee capsules that work better?
