Can people really tell an expensive watch apart?

To me, there are many sub-$100 watches that look just as good as the ones that cost in the thousands. So if you're wearing a $2000 watch and I'm wearing a $60 watch, would people really be able to tell that your watch is more expensive than mine? I know I can't, but I'm not a watch connoisseur.

As for OP: Yes.

depends on the watch , and just by looking at it , it is hard. for example if you look at a rolex daytona by looking at it you cannot tell if it is fake (unless if very poorly made) but if you take it off the persons wrist and shake it you can hear the spinning of the automatic windup.

simple answer is yes.

And if you cant tell by looking at the watch as soon as you read the name you'll know.

Whenever I'm looking to seduce a man, I always insist that he take the back off his watch so I can look at the movement. I pay close attention to the escapement. A young man can never be too careful.

It's hard to distinguish between real and replicas nowadays as the replicas on the market are very well made but once you take it apart, you can tell.

If your watch is expensive enough it comes with one of those.

It's not an expensive watch that makes the difference but the confidence of the one who wears it...a schmuck who wears a fake reeks of its lack

Yes. I can tell. I appreciate expensive watches. But I don't mind seeing inexpensive watches that don't try too hard to look fancy, precious, or super-technical. Your watch should fit your station in life.
