Pity about Carla. She's a better cook than Antonia.

These ridiculous twists have to stop. They can make them cook on the beach but give them equipment that fucking works if you're going to require restaurant preparations of them. Carla couldn't even make her dish.

Agreed, although I don't mind the ones early in the season for the quickfire challenges - like the no knives one was fun. For the finale it really should be just who is able to put out the best meal. No restrictions, no local ingredients only, just whatever they want to cook.

There is one more elimination before the finale, correct? I also hope they just let them cook whatever they want. Handicaps are only good when they're conceptual handicaps rather than utilitarian handicaps.

Looks like they have to hunt for their food before cooking it. Seriously. They're hunting conch and other shellfish with snorkels on. It's a circus.

i feel like if the wind wasn't too blowy -> hot dish -> dish tastes less sweet -> perfect dish the dish was probably tasted and seasoned when it was hot nobody should be sent home because of things they cant control like the weather. it was just unlucky that it started getting windy when she was getting done which is a stupid reason to send somebody home
this whole season has just been pure stupidity. the target challenge, the last challenge where carla was sent home because the show producers didnt provide proper equipment just stupid. i agree with whoever said it's a circus

I agree too - but it's a tv show. And when you get to final four All-stars, we all know they are all good. And they have different styles of food. So if you don't do SOMETHING to push them out of their comfort zone, you get into a decision about whose style you like best... which is what will come out of the final 2.

Yes, but it should be noted that the contestants -- to some extent -- did know what was coming. It didn't take a soothsayer to figure out that at least one of the challenges (if not more) would entail ingredients and perhaps cuisine specific to the Bahamas. That's why both Richard & Mike practiced such dishes in the intervening time between New York and the finals and why Mike worked specifically with Jen Carroll on preparing local fish and specifically in preparing conch. As in the kitchen, their prep paid off!

The equipment thing usually doesn't bother me when it is equally applied - different than failing equipment.

And putting ceviche on top of hot soup just struck me as dodgy the moment she did it.

Antonia making it this far has been a surprise, but realistically she has done pretty well by going back to basics and focusing on quality over flash. The judges definitely care more that the food is well executed as a primary concern so it doesn't bother me at all.
