All Things Hippity and Hoppity - Page 60

Yeah, the whole cd is dope. I think Kendrick dances that fine line between intelligent and interesting. I fuck with this this song too, such a summer vibe to it...

Nobody's talking about C4, yet? I'll be giving it a spin on the way to work tomorrow.

Sucks so far.

I thought Carter 3 was pretty good but this is terrible. He's just rapping over beats, same reason why Drake's album sucks.

Interlude is hot. I mean Wayne isn't on it, but it's still hot. satisfied.gif Tempo might be off due to Youtube bullshit.

Problem is, Tha Carter III leaked, and it wasn't it, so this may not be it! Sounds OK—nowhere near as good as Tha Carter III but still good—we'll see when it drops!

is not good. at all. 6'7 is easily the best song (and it is admittedly pretty fucking awesome), John is probably second. everything else sounds like weezy is sleepin. As someone mentioned Tech n9ne steals the whole fucking album on an 'interlude'. Oh weezy.

also kelv I recently gave drake's album a second chance and I liked some songs a lot more.

ps. What do you guys think of J. Cole? My take is he's too inconsistent and is no where near as good as he thinks he is. He'll have songs where he just goes in and kills it and songs that suck ass. I think it's telling that he supposedly came close to losing his record deal and took him about three years to finally get an album out.

I think he meant on WTT Kanye has superseded Jay lyrically...which I think is true. kanye is more ridiculous/hilarious then ever on wtt, jay kinda sounds on autopilot most of the time. jay still has a far deeper back catalogue. I don't think anyone would argue that.

Shit. Is it as bad as Lasers?

I'm all for swearing if the energy of the song calls for it, but has Wayne always been about this? I'm three songs in and it's just excessive.

No.

People are knee jerk reacting to it. There's different pieces to it.

But to sum it up, everything Wayne brings to the album- his forced energy, his Papoose grade punchlines, his complete lack of focus/direction, his repetitiveness/one-dimensionality, they are all the elements that are bad. The beats are decent. The features range from decent to phenomenal (WHAT UP NAS????). Production quality is obviously top shelf. But it's WAYNE. He himself is the weakest link on this disc. I think the charade will end here.

I think Tha Carter IV is actually pretty good, based on one listen.

Watch the Throne has kind of grown on me, actually. Tha Carter IV is probably the worst one, but the first three are really, really good.

The first Carter is great—amazing, amazing Mannie Fresh production on there. I wished he and Weezy still worked together; they had untouchable chemistry.
