Comfort every time and twice on sunday. The leather soles are pretty unforgiving.

Between the two sole options, which would you choose? Right now I'm leaning towards the comfort craftsman, as I've heard it doesn't crease as much as ones with leather soles.

get the comfort craftsman. the ultra flex is also a worthwhile option

The one on RMW website looks like it's better quality but I'm not sure if it actually is.

Is the quality on par with Aus made ones?
I don't think they are up to the same quality as the made in Oz ones personally - they seem a lighter construction (maybe blake possibly and not goodyear) and the leather is a bit more plasticy. Look like a pair of boots you'd find in Zara to be honest.

PoP, I don't think the jodhpurs are made overseas. They've been running the line for a while now.

The Stockmans are the old made in Oz, MTO line. The new jodhpurs are made in Romania and cost $200 more than the Stockmans used to...

Basically if it doesn't say "Made in Australia" on the back boot tag, it's made overseas now.

Jodhpurs are absolutely made overseas.

I can also tell you first hand that even the Made in Romania boots have Made in Australia on the tabs of the Jodhpurs (see photos). These were bought for my lady earlier this year. They have been replaced once already as well - this is the second pair, and the straps are fraying and coming away at the stitching.

All for the same price as the Oz-made elastic sides.

We only noticed this last night, and have emailed RM Williams to ask what the go is - probably wouldn't have bought them if the Made in Romania was clearly displayed.

Was bound to happen when the company passed completely into foreign hands. A shame...

Good to see you back here, @grimslade.

I don't think they say "made in Australia" - or at least they shouldn't, but you have a pair of the boots so I'll defer to you. If they do say made in Oz then that's misleading under the consumer law here... I see that the overseas made models still say "5 Percy St Prospect South Australia" but not explicitly "made in Australia" - which is just as confusing.

Some of the online sellers still have the stockmans for sale - whoever was after the jodhpurs could do worse than send one an email asking about that particular model. They may even have some old stock.

that's disappointing. no reason to "buy australian" now is there

do you know of any brands that make good quality jodphurs? full grain, goodyear welt or silimar

My apologies. I was referring to the latter pair. The former, which I have not seen, may very well be from overseas.

Wow, what a rort. I'd be asking for a refund as that is deceptive

I'm about to buy some more boots, likely Comfort Craftsman or Gardener boots and one thing I'm looking for is that they are made in Australia.

The photos are of my partner's pair. She bought them earlier this year - pull tab says 'Made in Australia' and inside says ''Made in Romania'. She was pretty livid when we looked inside (after reading the posts in this thread). No response from their customer service, and I dare say any objections raised in store won't be met kindly by RM staff.

We were already pretty disappointed, as the boots have had to be replaced once already (stitching gave after 1 wear), and now they stitching has given way on the straps of the boot. Extremely disappointing.

I also see that boots have gone up a few $ at Nungar. Bought myself another pair of Comfort Craftsmen before they get too expensive or offshored!

I would head to the store and ask to speak to the manager about the issue(s).Make sure that you get the name of everyone you speak to and If you get no joy ask them for the best way to contact someone in customer relations at RMW HQ Be clear on what outcome you are looking for - restitching or replacement of the straps; replacement pair; refund. Be polite, remain calm and stick to your guns.

The tag may simply be a production error - they ran out of the correct one and someone substituted a Made in Oz one - but point out your pride in Australia and disappointment to learn they were made in Romania despite what is indicated on the tag.

I wonder what the team at Frontline would have made of this ?

To chisel or not to chisel toe, that is the question.

I'm trying to decide which of two boots I am going to pull the trigger on - the Gardener boot or the Comfort All-Rounder.

I have a pair of Yard boots (basically the same as the Gardener) in 10.5H and love the construction, heft of the materials and the room in the toe box However, I do like the sleeker lines of the chisel toe of the All-Rounders.

So, a couple of questions:

1) Any substantial difference in the construction of the materials between the uppers of the two boots - beyond the liners ?

2) Any need to adjust my 10,5H fitting for the chisel toed All-Rounder ?
