RM Williams Boots - Everything You Wanted to Know - Page 241

Why are you trolls discussing the inferior boots in the RM Williams thread?

I love my RMs but you're being a dick. Wraith reliably offers different viewpoints about boots of similar origins at a lower price. There was a good chance I wasn't going to be able to afford my RMs, and Baxter would have been a good alternative.

I was a hair away from being the one member of my family who didn't get RMs in september. I would have gone for baxter, even though I would have felt left out in a family of 6 and counting Rms.

Thank you Wraith, they look great.

What happens when everyone comes over for dinner and leaves their shoes at the door? :D

Last time I checked, this was the RM WIlliams thread, not the Baxter thread.

Why not start a thread about Baxter and you can talk as much as you want about them in there?

^ Like I said...don't be a dick, Purple.

Well coming from someone who has both, I can tell you that Baxter isn't worthy to even be mentioned in this thread. Mine fell apart after 9 months of light use. Two of my friends who bought theirs at the same time had similar experiences.

To me, it seems like a shameless advertisement for someone who has an interest in Baxter.

As I said, feel free to start a Baxter thread, where you can discuss all the Baxter offerings. But not in the RM Williams thread, please. Thanks.

I asked in here because had I made another thread, it would have been buried in about 2 seconds, and I figured that the people who are knowledgeable in Baxter boots would probably be present in this thread because they are similar. It's pretty simple really... You could have just ignored it in all honesty.

Purple - stop being a dick!

Baxter's have been discussed here on and off for years. I'm sure that will continue. If someone here asks me a question about them, I'm going to answer here.

I've had my Henry Baxter Classic boots for 5 years and they've held up superbly well. Never even polished them, and I'll proudly compare them favoudably with RMW. Even the latter has had the odd quality control issue from time to time. I've seen some of them in this thread. Doesn't mean all RMW boots are bad quality. Same goes for Baxter.

I asked about Baxters once too. Because of the nature of Styleforum, it seemed the logical place to do so. I think everyone acknowledges that especially outside of Australia RMW is synonymous with "Australian Boot", that in and of itself is testament to the brand.

Nevertheless I respect your passion. I learned from binge-watching Aunty Jack about the unique Australian psyche.

What about Mongrel Boots to, these are made in Australia and they have a riding boot similar also. The quality is no where as good as RMW or Baxters but are there for those who want something a lot less in price but made in Australia.

I've not heard of them. Thanks for enlightening us.

I actually checked out Mongrel riding boots. At the time they were selling them with a weird translucent heel, which was a bit of a turnoff.

It is different, the sole is meant to be long wearing and great for lots of walking, so might be for those who want something not as fancy. But Mongrel are not as well known as RMW.
