Looking at my boots in daylight - noticed that the leather overall seems quite...cracked (not actually cracked but I can't quite explain). It could be the natural leather grain I suppose, but it looks more like the leather is dry - possibly old stock that's been sitting around for ages? Maybe got warm in transit? I just put some leather conditioner over some of it... Also looks like some parts of the boots have been nicked by the chisel or whatever they used to put the soles on, soles still arent perfect, there's more 'lip' on one than the other, slightly differently curved at the front... To be honest, my buying experience of RMW boots hasn't been great. As whereswally? might attest to, their quality control and workmanship seems really shoddy. For boots that are fairly expensive (at least by australian standards), and a brand that goes on and on about how great their worksmanship is (all the boots i've had seem like they were put together without any care by someone who might dislike working at the company?)... But i'm now stuck with the boots I have. I refuse to take them back again after doing it twice already and feeling a bit stupid each time. Perhaps i'm being too picky but after very obvious flaws of my first pair (not being the same height and other issues), a couple of obvious flaws on the 2nd (the soles were really badly put on), I can overlook some obvious but not dealbreaker flaws on the 3rd pair - although if I had gotten the 3rd pair first I may have taken them back! Have yet to actually wear the boots out yet - still feeling anxious that this pair just doesnt stack up.
