Yes Inf, I almost thought the same. However, earlier this afternoon I passed by the RMW store in Bond street, London. I put the same idea to a very knowledgeable salesman. It would appear that you can have them sent back to Australia; the entire 'comfort' inners ripped out, and a screwed leather sole put in its place. He said the cost would be about Â£70.
I would of course forgo the benefit of 'comfort', along with the long lasting nature of the composite sole. If it happens, I'll definitely keep this magnificent thread (thanks Sator) up to date with details and pics. A part of me is still sceptical, doubting if this is truly possible. Lear
