I actually like the look of the chukka. I wish it was actually waterproof though. I'd wear that as a winter boot with jeans, etc. if it has a Gore-Tex liner. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

^ That is just one ugly shoe.

I wish I could get it but I guess it's just not my style.

These are more along the lines of what I was talking about: Link

I started working part time at local J. Crew and all of the young guys there wear quoddi's or boat shoes. I try to like them but I just can't stand them...

I LOVE my 5 last AE shoes, they are perfect beater/ work shoes. I am not trying to impress anyone with them but they are durable and hold up well. I own much nicer shoes but they are too nice to work in. Plus, AE is american made so we need to support them.

This is the shoe people will instantly think of when, 20 years from now, they're posting to an "ITT we post ugly stuff we wore in the 2000s" thread.

To each his own.

They're not supposed to look "sleek." They're supposed to look "blobby." The lug sole is utilitarian: it gives you better traction in snow and rain and slush.

I bet you prefer something like the C&J Brecon because it's sleek. (It is a nice boot) But I would never put a calfskin or suede shoe through the snow. You'd damage the leather and probably slip quite a bit.
